The Father, Son and Holy Spirit: I Bow My Head In Humble Gratitude

My life and future ministry may have been considerably shorter if it were not for the intercession of my loving wife, Marlene.

The powerful prayer of faith – and with the grace of God – brought me miraculous healing and salvation in February 2013. But what if Marlene had not taught me to pray?

Before I met Marlene I was a serial sinner; I must have broken at least half of the 10 commandments during my life!

I started to become unwell in August 2012 and by the time that Marlene flew to the UK to be with me, from her South African home, in October 2012. I could hardly walk.

I was in complete denial, having not needed to visit a doctor for more than 40 years.

My legs grew worse with every passing day, and water was (literally) pouring out from open wounds on both legs.

Whilst I was still in a state of denial (I somehow assumed that my legs would get better all by themselves) Marlene was inspired to wash my legs with turmeric powder twice a day.

I have never experienced pain like it! I have a very low pain threshold at the best of times and I was almost in perpetual agony.

I am not sure how Marlene put up with all my complaining about the pain – I think she must have worn ear muffs because she never seemed to hear my moans and carried on relentlessly with washing my legs with turmeric powder.

Soon after our Marriage on January 16th 2013, I was so very ill that Marlene might easily have become a widow shortly thereafter!

I knew that Marlene was very worried about me – so I asked for a doctor to do a home visit.

After the doctor had examined me, she prescribed a large number of tablets. But she told me later that she truly didn’t expect me to last that night!

She also made the necessary arrangements for the District Nurse to visit me once a day to wash my legs and to re-bandage them.

And, a few days later, a hospital bed was delivered and installed in our lounge, so I could sleep downstairs, close to the bathroom.

I know that Marlene, at times, must have felt as if she had been abandoned. She was living in a new country, far away from all her family and friends and everything she knew. She was also looking after a very sick husband, who might easily have left for Higher Pastures any day.

One day – when I was hovering between two worlds – Marlene told me that she sense the Spirit of Death surrounding me.

Marlene had been a lay Methodist Preacher since 1989.

I was actually brought up in a Methodist Sunday School which I attended until I was 8 years old. But in the intervening years between then and January 2013 I knew that God existed but I didn’t truly know Him.

I was desperate. I thought that I would never walk again. I had no future. And I was only just married………………….

Marlene taught me how to pray. First, The Lord’s Prayer. And pray I did. By myself and with Marlene.

I repented of all my past sins and misdeeds and entered into a new and wonderful relationship with our Father God. I prayed several times a day.

I read the Bible and re-introduced myself to all the many miracles performed by Jesus. I read that what humans find impossible, God makes possible.

I needed a miracle.

I discovered that I was suffering from oedema. I had several large wounds and loose skin on both my legs and water was running down my legs from the wounds.

The District Nurse came every day to wash my legs and to change my bandages. When exposed to the air, my legs were much the same every day. And, as it was winter, even with the central heating on 24/7 my poor old legs were in almost perpetual pain as the coldness was absorbed into my open wounds!

But one truly memorable night, I couldn’t sleep, so I prayed and prayed and prayed; for a miracle healing. I prayed that when the District Nurse came to see me the next day to wash my legs and to change my bandages, all the wounds on both my legs would be healed and that all the open wounds would be closed up.

And thus it came to pass that God heard my prayers and graciously answered my prayers.

When the District Nurse visited me the next day, she was astonished that all my open wounds on both my legs were closed and healed.

I knew then, as I know now, that God does not only want us to have faith in Him, but also to trust Him.

Knowing and understanding what I know now, I firmly believe that God had never any intention to allow me to die because of the future work that He wishes Marlene and I to do together.

I have had to re-learn to walk, I am now registered as being disabled and I have a mobility scooter.

But even having to live with my continued disability I know – and accept – that that is all part of God’s Divine Plan.

My Journey with the Holy Spirit has not yet finished; in fact it has only just begun!

Last Night I Took A Journey

Last night I took a journey
To a land across the seas.
I didn’t go by ship or plane
I traveled on my knees.

I saw so many people there
In bondage to their sin,
And Jesus told me I should go,
That there were souls to win.

But I said “Jesus, I can’t go
To lands across the seas.”
He answered quickly, “Yes, you can
By traveling on your knees.”

He said, “You pray, I’ll meet the need.
You call, and I will hear.
It’s up to you to be concerned
For lost souls far and near.”

And so I did; knelt in prayer,
Gave up some hours of ease,
And with the Savior by my side,
I traveled on my knees.

As I prayed on, I saw souls saved
And twisted persons healed,
I saw God’s workers strength renewed
While laboring in the field.

I said, “Yes Lord, I’ll take the job.
Your heart I want to please.
I’ll heed Your call and swiftly go
By traveling on my knees.”

The Blood of Jesus

One night in a church service a young woman felt the tug of God at her heart. She responded to God’s call and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

The young woman had a very rough past, involving alcohol, drugs, and prostitution. But, the change in her was very apparent.

As time went on she became a faithful member of the church. She eventually became involved in the ministry, teaching young children.

It was not very long until this faithful young woman had caught the eye and heart of the pastor’s son. The relationship grew and they began to make wedding plans.

This is when the problems began. You see, about one half of the church did not think that a woman with a past such as hers was suitable for a pastor’s son.

The church began to argue and fight about the matter. So they decided to have a meeting. As the people made their arguments and tensions increased, the meeting was getting completely out of hand.

The young woman became very upset about all the things being brought up about her past. As she began to cry the pastor’s son stood. He could not bear the pain it was causing his wife to be. He began to speak and his statement was this:

“My fiancee’s past is not what is on trial here. What you are questioning is the ability of the Blood of Jesus to wash away sin. Today you have put the blood of Jesus on trial. So, does it wash away sin or not?”

The whole church began to weep as they realized that they had been slandering the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Too often, even as Christians, we bring up the past and use it as a weapon against our brothers and sisters.

Forgiveness is a very foundational part of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. If the blood of Jesus does not cleanse the other person completely then it cannot cleanse us completely.

If that is the case, then we are all in a lot of trouble. Christ paid the debt ….it is finished. So let us stop talking about people and their past misdeeds and sins.

The Ring

A married lady was expecting a birthday gift from her husband. For many months she had admired a beautiful diamond ring in a showroom, and knowing her husband could afford it, she told him that was all she wanted.

As her birthday approached, this lady awaited signs that her husband had purchased the diamond ring. Finally, on the morning of her birthday, her husband called her into his study.

Her husband told her how proud he was to have such a good wife, and told her how much he loved her.

He handed her a beautiful wrapped gift box.

Curious, the wife opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the wife’s name embossed in gold.

Angrily, she raised her voice at her husband and said, ‘With all your money you gave me a Bible?’ And stormed out of the house, leaving her husband.

Many years passed and the lady became very successful in business. She managed to settle for a more beautiful house and a wonderful family, but realized her ex-husband was very old, and thought perhaps she should go to visit him. She had not seen him for many years.

But before she could make arrangements, she received a telegram telling her that her ex-husband had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to her. She needed to come back immediately and take care of his affairs.

When she arrived at her ex-husband’s house, sudden sadness and regret filled her heart. She began to search through her ex-husband’s important papers and saw the new Bible still intact, just as she had left it years before.

With tears, she opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. Her ex-husband had carefully underlined a verse, Matthew 7:11:-

And if you, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father, who is in heaven, give what is good to those who ask Him?

As she read those words, a tiny package dropped from the back of the Bible. It was the diamond ring, with her name engraved on it — the same diamond ring which she saw 20 years before at the showroom.

On the tag was the date of her birth, and the words: ‘LUV U ALWAYS’.

How many times do we miss God’s blessings, because they are not packaged as we expected?

Do not spoil what you have, by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.

If your gift is not packaged the way you want it, it’s because it is better packaged the way it is. Always appreciate little things; they usually lead you to bigger and better things.

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather we fix our gazw on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.  (2 Corinthians 4: 18)

James 1: 22

James 1:22

“But be ye doers of the Word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves”.

God’s Word is relevant and effective for today.

What does it say and mean to us?

God’s Word is like a mirror, we examine ourselves, reveals what we need to change and helps us to change.

Obedience in hearing and doing His Word leads to a godly and blessed life.

Practice what we learn.

Disobedience to His Word leads to sin and destruction. Not deceive ourselves: Pretend to love God and live in sin.

Plan our lives without His guidance.

Praying and not believing. Concern for others and not offer help.

Mighty and all powerful God, we read your Word, but our love for Christ has become cold and we have become careless.

We want to be faithful and effective witnesses. Let us not deceive ourselves.

Be hearers and doers of the Word. Willing to do what the Word tells us and make a difference in Jesus name.

With many peaceful blessings, His peace, His presence and His power be yours today.

John 10: 10

  • John 10 :10

“The thief comes to kill, steal and destroy, I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”

Be alert, be wary. Be careful. The enemy comes like an angel of light, in the form of friends, the world and false teachers, whose intentions ard not good.

It can all look and feel so good and we can be distracted. We can be so easily deceived and be led astray into the path of sin, destruction and death.

Don’t be robbed of the joy, hope and happiness that Christ provides.

Know God’s voice and Word. Through prayer and meditation, stand firm against the enemy.

We are covered under the blood of Jesus. Satan’s hold is broken.

Jesus, Our Saviour, gives us life in all abundance. Spiritual life. Eternal life. Walk in the path of life in the fullness in Jesus Christ.

    Prayer :

Jesus, the name above all names, we pray for deliverance from the hands of the enemy.

    Help us to be discerning.

Grant us a life of joy and blessings as we turn to your pathway, away from Satan and His wiles.

Your Word keeps us strong and helps us to overcome the hatred, jealousy, anger and evil in the world.

We are blessed. We are delivered in Jesus name. We give you praise and glory.

With many peaceful blessings, may you always walk in the light of Christ.

    God Bless
