Thanking God in Prayer

I am very conscious that I spend much of my prayer time in asking our Father God for everything that I need.

I always seem to have a prayerful ‘shopping list’, that I lay at the foot of God, of things that I need to improve not only the quality of my own life but so that I am able to help more and more people enter a deeper relationship with our Heavenly Father.

However, I always try to remember to thank Him for everything that He has graciously, and generously, bestowed upon me.

He is a God of many miracles, and I would not be writing this message today, if it were not for His grace in saving me from my ‘death’ bed.

So, in my morning prayers, I do take a minute, perhaps longer, to thank Him for everything I have and for all His love and compassion that He gives to me every day, and in so many wondrous ways.

Praise be the Lord. Hallelujah

Sudan – Court Finds Men Guilty in Shock Decision

Court finds men guilty in shock decision

In a shock decision, a judge in Khartoum has found Czech aid worker Petr Jasek, Darfuri graduate Abdulmonem Abdulmawla and church leader Hassan Kodi guilty in their long-running trial.

Petr, 52, was sentenced to 23-and-a-half years for various charges, including spying. He was also fined 100,000 Sudanese pounds (around £12,300) for undertaking NGO work without a permit. Abdulmonem and Hassan were each sentenced to 12 years – their major ‘crime’ was to ‘aid and abet’ Petr in his spying.

The men were first arrested in December 2015 alongside another church pastor, Kuwa Shamal, who was thankfully released earlier this month. Throughout their trial, many Open Doors supporters have been praying for them and speaking up on their behalf. Thank you!

We know that your prayers and support make a difference. In the cases of Meriam Ibrahim (who was sentenced to death in Sudan for apostasy) and two Sudanese pastors found guilty of various charges, both of their sentences were reversed after prayer and pressure was raised for them worldwide.

Please continue to lift up Petr, Abdulmonem and Hassan in your prayers as they plan to appeal against the harsh prison sentences. You can use the prayer points below.

Please Pray:

  • That God would comfort and support Petr, Abdulmonem and Hassan at this time
  • For the men and their lawyers as they plan to lodge appeals against the verdict
  • Thank God for the prayers and support that the three men have received from believers around the world.

Just think what it would be like if you were imprisoned unfairly because of your Christian faith!

There are many millions of Christians throughout the world who are being abused and tortured because of their belief in our Father God.

Please also pray for them that they may be given the courage and strength to endure all the atrocities being perpetrated against them on a daily basis.

Listen to God: A Lesson

A young man had been to Wednesday night Bible Study. The Pastor had shared about listening to God and obeying the Lord’s voice. The young man couldn’t help but wonder, “Does God still speak to people?”

After service he went out with some friends for coffee and pie and they discussed the message. Several different ones talked about how God had led them in different ways.

It was about ten o’clock when the young man started driving home. Sitting in his car, he just began to pray, “God…If you still speak to people speak to me. I will listen. I will do my best to obey.” As he drove down the main street of his town, he had the strangest thought to stop and buy a gallon of milk.

He shook his head and said out loud, “God is that you?” He didn’t get a reply and started on toward home.~ ~~ But again, the thought: Buy a gallon of milk.

The young man thought about Samuel and how he didn’t recognize the voice of God, and how little Samuel ran to Eli. “Okay, God, in case that is you, I will buy the milk.” It didn’t seem like too hard a test of obedience. He could always use the milk. He stopped and purchased the gallon of milk and started off toward home.

As he passed Seventh Street, he again felt the urge, “Turn Down that street.” This is crazy he thought and drove on past the intersection. Again, he felt that he should turn down Seventh Street. At the next intersection, he turned back and headed down Seventh. Half jokingly, he said out loud, “Okay, God, I will”.

He drove several blocks, when suddenly, he felt like he should stop. He pulled over to the curb and looked around. He was in semi commercial area of town. It wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worst of neighborhoods either.

The businesses were closed and most of the houses looked dark like the people were already in bed. Again, he sensed something, “Go and give the milk to the people in the house across the street.”

The young man looked at the house. It was dark and it looked like the people were either gone or they were already asleep.

He started to open the door and then sat back in the car seat. “Lord, this is insane. Those people are asleep and if I wake them up, they are going to be mad and I will look stupid.” Again, he felt like he should go and give the milk. Finally, he opened the door, “Okay God, if this is you, I will go to the door and I will give them the milk. If you want me to look like a crazy person, okay. I want to be obedient. I guess that will count for something but if they don’t answer right away, I am out of here.”

He walked across the street and rang the bell. He could hear some noise inside. A man’s voice yelled out, “Who is it? What do you want?”

Then the door opened before the young man could get away. The man was standing there in his jeans and T-shirt. He looked like he just got out of bed. He had a strange look on his face and he didn’t seem too happy to have some stranger standing on his doorstep. “What is it?” The young man thrust out the gallon of milk, “Here, I brought this to you.” The man took the milk and rushed down a hallway.

Then from down the hall came a woman carrying the milk toward the kitchen. The man was following her holding a baby. The baby was crying. The man had tears streaming down his face.

The man began speaking and half crying, “We were just praying. We had some big bills this month and we ran out of money. We didn’t have any milk for our baby. I was just praying and asking God to show me how to get some milk.” His wife in the kitchen yelled out, “I ask him to send an Angel with some. Are you an Angel?”

The young man reached into his wallet and pulled out all the money he had on him and put in the man’s hand. He turned and walked back toward his car and the tears were streaming down his face.

God is always speaking, just pay attention and listen…..

Sunday Reflections

Reflect on your life this morning. Count your blessings and see the grace and mercy of our Father God.

He has walked through every trial, sickness, troubles, sadness, sorrow, and joy with you. He was and is always at your side in the highs and lows of your life.

We arise today through His grace for we have breath to see another day.

Give thanks to God. He never leaves us nor forsakes us.

Rejoice and be glad for all that we are, and we have.

This Sunday morning, give God all the glory for who He is and what He has done for us. Grace, love, faith, peace, hope, mercy, joy, happiness, and His blessings abound in your life today. Glory to God.

Go into His house with gladness and Worship Him today: our Lord is very good.

Whether you are on the mountain top or down in the valley, enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.

It is the time of worship. He is waiting. Let your lifestyle be an attitude of worship.

Be blessed and let the Spirit of the Lord be upon you as you rejoice in His presence.

Hallelujah

Praise be the Lord!

Sunday Blessings

I love the letters written by Paul, the Apostle. It was he, of course, who originally persecuted Christians to the full extent of his authority.

And in 1 Timothy 1: 15 he writes that Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and that he was the worst sinner of all!

Nothing he did, you might think, deserved God’s love.

But God lovingly transformed Paul into a man who would dedicate himself to spreading the gospel message in many lands.

We ourselves are unable to do enough good deeds to earn our right to enter the kingdom of heaven. Salvation, I have discovered, is only possible because of the grace of our Father God.

Jesus, who died on the cross, and who took the punishment for our sins, deserves all the credit for our redemption.

May you have a blessed Sunday, praising and worshipping our Heavenly Father, as you go to your church this holy Sabbath day.

Have Faith

When God prophesied to Abraham that his wife Sarah will have a baby, Sarah overhead the conversation and laughed to herself – thinking “how can an old woman like me get pregnant?”

Because Sarah knew she was past the childbearing age.

And when God asked why she thought that was funny, she immediately lied – out of fear. When God originally gave Abraham that same prophesy, Bible says in Genesis 17:17 that “Abraham bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief. “How could I become a father at the age of 100?” he thought. “And how can Sarah have a baby when she is ninety years old?”

If God had looked at their faith alone, he wouldn’t have given them a child. But even though they both didn’t believe God right away, God still kept his word and blessed them with Isaac. Because God is gracious and faithful.

We serve a gracious covenant keeping God.

You see, God blesses us not because we deserve it and not because we are entitled to it, but BECAUSE of His GRACE.

God promised to make Abraham the father of many nations through Sarah and even though they didn’t deserve it, he kept his promise.

As you begin your day, May the GRACE and favor of God be with you in everything you do. May God continue to bless you and your families!
